Fern's Story

I grew up in a large, close-knit family consisting of 6 sisters and one brother. My parents instilled strength, perseverance, and resilience in each of us. I learned early on that I had to manage expectations and approach situations open-mindedly and positively. Positive and affirming language, humor, and gratefulness have always been how I live my life.

After a 25-year career in the entertainment industry, I decided to reevaluate my profession. As I contemplated the next steps, it became abundantly clear that I enjoyed helping others figure out their strengths and help them attain life goals. Consequently, I understand what it takes to balance stressful job demands and raise a family with someone you love. I offer you a life full of successes and mistakes that I have learned from to help you figure it out.

Main Areas of Focus

Approach

My ability to connect with and assist individuals is an accumulation of my professional education, life experiences, and interest in people. Therapy is a collaborative process in which

we bring insight, feedback, and expertise. I will approach all issues with curiosity, warmth, and honesty. I work with clients using a relational, systems-based lens to determine the best approach. These include Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman, Person-Centered Therapy, Humanistic, Mindfulness, and Relational Life Therapy. Additionally, I'm a certified Solution Focused Therapist.

Neurodiverse Families & Couples

A family can thrive by implementing improved communication skills, intimacy, and conflict resolution, specifically assisting families in understanding how neurodiversity can affect the family. I work with couples whose family members have a neurodiverse diagnosis, helping them to learn new ways to communicate to ensure strong family support and harmony in their relationship.

Part of this process is validating the emotions that will surface as they go through this new journey. I introduce and implement tools tailored to the specific situation. My approach has empowered couples to accept each other's unique differences and bring a more positive outcome as a couple. As we work as a team in therapy, I can assist you in understanding the nature of neurodiversity and its impacts on relationships. Collaboratively, I can help you identify the family's challenges when parenting a child with a Neurodiverse diagnosis. I will provide the tools necessary to repair, develop, and achieve your desired relationship. Working this way, you can identify and explore the differences with hope and compassion and, in doing so, develop a deeper connection.

Personal Invitation

Seeking help and support can be difficult. I want to create an environment where parents and families are comfortable, seen, heard, and understood. In such a safe space, individuals can be authentic, opening the door to a deeper understanding of what's troubling them. Everyone has the potential and deserves to live a fulfilling life. I can help you identify and move past the barriers that stand in your way to leading this life. My process for the therapeutic relationship is to be non-judgmental, person-centered, collaborative, and goal-focused and to facilitate your journey.
