👩👧👦 Raising Neurodivergent Kids: The Personal and Professional Journey That Fuels My Work
Parenting a neurodivergent child doesn’t come with a rulebook—but it does come with a whole lot of questions, worries, and moments of wondering if you’re doing it “right.”
I work with parents who are doing the most important job in the world—loving and raising kids who see, feel, and experience the world differently.
As a mom of five children—each with their own personality, needs, and ways of engaging with the world—our family life includes neurodiversity. That lived experience has shaped the way I parent and the way I practice.
I know what it’s like to navigate sensory sensitivities, shifting routines, and the emotional complexity that comes with being both a caregiver and a person with your own limits.
I’ve also served as a therapist in both elementary and high school settings, working directly with students, families, and school staff around IEPs, emotional regulation, peer relationships, and academic stress.
Whether you’re building connection at home, struggling to communicate with school systems, or simply feeling overwhelmed—I’m here to support you with insight, clarity, and warmth.
🌈 Late-Diagnosed Autism: Discovering My Own Neurodivergence
It wasn’t until adulthood that I took our full battery of autism screeners—and that’s when everything clicked.
For the first time, I had a clear reflection of what I had always felt on the inside but never had language for: I’m autistic.
Realizing this as an adult was a profound turning point in my life. It helped me connect the dots across decades of experiences, misunderstandings, and quiet struggles that never quite made sense—until they suddenly did.
That experience didn’t just impact me personally—it shaped my professional calling. Today, I offer therapy and assessment services that reflect the empathy, nuance, and insight that only lived experience can bring.
💡 What I Help Parents With:
Whether your child is newly diagnosed, suspected to be autistic, or you’ve been on this journey for a while, I’m here to help with:
-
Understanding your child’s needs without losing yourself
-
Building emotional connection, even when your child struggles with expression or regulation
-
Co-regulation and sensory support—creating environments where your child and you can both thrive
-
Reducing conflict at home and fostering smoother routines
-
Advocating at school while maintaining your own mental health
-
Navigating burnout, guilt, and self-doubt
-
Parenting alongside a partner (or solo parenting) in a way that feels balanced and sustainable
-
Supporting siblings in understanding and adjusting to neurodiversity in the family
You don’t have to be a “perfect” parent. You just need tools, support, and someone who sees the full picture.
💬 A Family Systems Approach Rooted in Lived Experience
I work holistically—supporting you not just as a parent, but as a whole person.
Many of the parents I work with are also neurodivergent themselves (whether diagnosed or undiagnosed). Others are navigating the complexities of blended families, co-parenting, or managing high-stress environments while parenting kids with big needs.
I help families understand how everyone’s nervous systems interact—why some kids need space while others need closeness, why routines break down, and how to rebuild safety and trust when things have felt chaotic for too long.
Together, we’ll untangle what’s really happening in your home—so you can respond with more clarity, calm, and connection.
🔍 Autism & ADHD Assessments for Adults and Parents
Sometimes, the parenting journey opens the door to discovering more about yourself. That’s what happened to me—and it happens to many of the parents I work with.
In addition to therapy, I also offer in-depth autism and ADHD assessments for adults. These are especially helpful for parents who wonder if they themselves might be neurodivergent, or who want a better understanding of their own executive functioning, sensory processing, or social communication patterns.
Gaining clarity about your neurotype can be transformative. It can change how you parent, how you relate to your partner, and how you care for yourself. For many adults, these assessments offer not just answers—but relief, self-compassion, and the beginning of a new kind of self-awareness.
🧘♀️ Mind-Body Support for Parents
I know that raising neurodivergent kids can take a toll—on your body, mind, and spirit.
That’s why I integrate mind-body tools into my work as a Certified Health Coach and practitioner of yoga and meditation.
These tools aren’t just about self-care—they’re about survival.
I help parents develop real-life strategies to regulate their nervous system, process intense emotions, and stay present in hard moments. You’ll leave our work together with more than just insight—you’ll have practices that help you breathe, reset, and keep going.
