Just Get Through Today
Right now you don't need a plan for your whole life. You need to get through today. When you're in the acute shock of betrayal, survival is the only goal that matters - eating something, drinking water, breathing, resting if you can, leaning on one safe person. This worksheet lowers the bar all the way down to where it needs to be.
Survival is enough right now: You don't have to be okay. You don't have to function normally. You just have to get through the next hour, and then the next. That's not failure - that's exactly right for where you are.
Today's basics
Tick what you can manage today. Any of them counts as a win.
- [ ] Ate something
- [ ] Drank water
- [ ] Rested or slept a little
- [ ] Got outside or moved my body
- [ ] Told one safe person how I am
- [ ] Took my medications (if any)
- [ ] Didn't make any big, permanent decisions
Right now, this minute
When the panic surges, come back to your senses. Name five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can touch. It pulls you out of the spinning and into this moment, where you are okay right now.
One person or thing I can hold onto today:
______________________________________________
One breath at a time: You will get through this hour, and this day. You don't have to see the whole path - just the next small step. You are not alone in this, even when it feels that way. If it ever feels like too much, reach out right away - call or text 988.
